I have been to this dump a half dozen times over the last few years (usually only when I need a coffee and Good Harbor is closed) and I still haven't gotten a decent cup of coffee. Never again will I waste my money here. PS: when you "don't know when your regular coffee was brewed but it was at least 3 hours ago", MAKE A FRESH POT... Don't wait till you have sold all the swill and then make a good pot. Come on... As a coffee shop you should have some sort of standards about what you serve.

When I went in, there was one girl ahead of me and a number of people behind me. I ordered one coffee, that didn't even end up tasting good, but they served a couple and a family of 4 that were behind me before me. Normally I wouldn't be so quick to jump on Yelp and write a bad review over that, but after my almost 15 minute wait, the barista was rude. Boo!

Try the Espresso Bay Chillers in your favorite flavor! I have so many good memories of downtown Traverse City and they usually involve a stop into this great spot.

We were happy with the coffee and pastry, but the service was unwelcoming, unsmiling, and brusk ("Do you have Sugar in the Raw?" "We're out" in an unapologetic tone). Overall, I offer 4 stars for the product and 2 for the experience.

Super understaffed, one person behind the counter for a busy day. I felt bad for the staff member, she was really nice but had way too much to do. Just wanted to grab something quick, instead I waited 20 mins for an iced tea.

Went there on 2 occasions during my weekend visit. The first time, there was a live jazz band, which was awesome. They have inconsistent tea bag distribution. One time, I was given 3 tea bags in my cup and the second time only one. This wasn't really a problem for me. Just something to note. Great atmosphere. They make a mean matcha tea! Tastes like vanilla. Also recommend the fruit smoothie. Great healthy options!

I really enjoyed this shop! The best part is that there is coffee, smoothies, tea...you name it they have it. I'm pretty sure they had gelato too (it might have been ice cream). It is a very clean restaurant and there is a sitting area both inside and out. The decor is nice and is worth a stop if you are in traverse city and want to drop into a shop. I had the green tea smoothie and my friend had the Milky Way iced coffee. Both were absolutely delicious. We used the free coffee coupon off yelp but we utilized the 2$ off specialty drink instead of the free coffee. The people there were so friendly---great staff and excellent service. It is located right in the city so there are plenty of places to go afterwards. We walked into the park area with our coffees where they rent out kayaks and people are swimming in the river. It was great!

I will say their mocha latte was good. The cinnamon latte was extremely bitter. The double chocolate muffin was pretty good. I would try it again, 3 stars is mainly due to the cinnamon latte. Also, the woman that helped us had no clue how to enter the $10 for $5 coupon. It seemed like we were bothering her by using it.

Love this place! I come here almost daily when I'm in town on vacation. The coffee is great and the tea is good too! The customer service can't be beat, the ladies always have a smile and great attitude, I recommend this place to anyone who wants a cute place to enjoy an espresso, latte or just a nice refreshing iced tea.

My husband and I spent a couple days in Traverse City and this was the first coffee place we noticed. This place has lots of options - tried the strawberry yogurt smoothie which was pretty good; cookies and cream capp which just tasted like coffee with sweet cream. My husband had the iced cherry truffle mocha and the iced toasted marshmallow latte and said he couldn't fast either of those flavors in the drinks. Seems like they have many choices of flavored coffees - maybe we should have stuck to those. Friendly staff, neat atmosphere.

This place has gone waaaaaay downhill. I'd say if you are desperate for coffee this place will suffice. I just wanted a brewed coffee and the girl told me she had no clue when it was brewed last and she had been there over an hour and not brewed any. Ok? So make a fresh pot! I guess when there signs say "always fresh" its more of a guideline than a rule. The girl was rather aloof and seemed they all we irritated with their job. For what she considered resolution to stagnant but "still hot" coffee, I was offered a pour over fresh... but that's triple the price! Um. No thanks. I just ordered an Americano and paid 3 bucks. The only upside to this place are their hours. When the other GOOD places are closed, this is the last resort; Until people catch on to BREW. Then I'd assume espresso bay won't be around much longer. Good riddance.

Generic Starbucks kind of place. The coffee I had down the street at good harbor was much better.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I used to go to Espresso Bay almost everyday. Today I went in and ordered a mocha and an Italian soda. When I realized their Italian soda was just flavored syrup squirted into a cup with ice and soda water. I decided I didn't want it. I said it was okay and left the drink there because they were busy and didn't wanna make a big deal about it. I called to see if they could simply write my name down for the price difference for another coffee since I frequent there often. Jen, the lady working the from computer was extremely rude to me, and yelled at me, almost bringing me to tears. I work around the corner, so I immediately walked back (being late to work) to speak to a manager. She instantly started yelling at me, in front of all the customers. Saying "it's not my fault you didn't want it and left the drink here" She then yelled "I'm not fucking dealing with this, you aren't my manager!" And stormed off into the back room. Leaving me up at the counter by myself. I said i was sorry to the other employee, I didn't want to cause any problems, but just wanted the owners name and number after all of this. She was incredibly rude and should not be working customer service. Not to mention, with my many times going there, I've seen her be rude to other customers. Her name was Jen, with a short dark haired hair color and a color piece. I'd suggest to never go here ever.

Clean, busy, and efficient. They've adopted the iPad system of checkout...very modern. Coffee is good. Not the best I've had, a little bitter for my tastes. But the price was average for a nice coffee place, and service was friendly. Nothing bad to say, otherwise.

There are two Espresso Bays that I know of... The first that is downtown and caters to people downstate. The second, in a part of TC that doubles as a Christian bookstore. I am not Christian, but this shop is in the radius of my work and the coffee is good. I have been there every work day for the past several months. It's a nice place to soak up the sun through the windows and have some good coffee. However, today I have decided to boycott this establishment. The manager spoke to me about his born again experience... That's cool. Then he spoke to me about how other religions are bad... Um. Then the nail was driven into the coffin when he said "gay people have mental issues" and that they all essentially have daddy issues. ESPRESSO BAY IS ANTI GAY. I don't want to be a patron at an establishment who is hateful. And hope that you will do the same.

The customer experience here surpasses any I have been subject to so far!!! The first time I walked in here felt like I had known all the baristas; Heidi, Trisha, and the rest all of my life! The whole time was transcendent of a reunion of old mates.

The new owners are really turning the place around. If you had issues in the past I strongly recommend giving the new owners a chance.

I just visited for the first time this morning. I had a Milky Way Mocha and it was delicious! I wish there was a location closer to where I live. I would visit quite often! Unfortunately, we were getting ready to hit the road and had to take our coffee to go. The inside was very cozy looking though. There were a couple of comfy looking leather couches by a fireplace. I'd definitely recommend visiting here if you're in town and want to take a break from the cold and relax.

We come here whenever we come to visit traverse city, usually yearly. We love it! We always have to make a stop. They are always friendly and we love the coffee. I always get the almond joy coffee. It's awesome!

We stopped in to get some gelato since the place we usually go to was not open. The gelato area was very low on what was offered. It appeared to be melting and was not the consistency we are typically used to. Many of the flavors were not available. If you are looking for just gelato be very weary on this one. We ended up leaving and not getting anything.

5 stars for their gelato!!! Not much to say except that it's the freshest, creamiest, tastiest gelato I've ever had! Try the mango and the raspberry if you ever get the chance.

Great spot for coffee lovers! I'm a visitor to the area and was looking forward to trying some of the different cafés the area has to offer. I have been to a few different cafés in T.C. but Espresso Bay stands out for me. What I really liked about this place was the selection of different coffee bean flavors that you can choose from and have served in a "pour over" cup. I got their vanilla coffee which was very delicious .. The shop itself is clean and modern and centrally located in downtown Traverse City. Like I said above .. I have gotten coffee from a couple of different cafe's in the area and so far this is my favorite. I will be going back for more before we leave town.
